post’s HOT TOP 5!

The “Hot Top 5” is a general list of what we here at Reliable-Vendor were impressed with, received positive reviews by vending experts, or offered something special to the vending industry. This is not to say any product is better or worse than the next, but merely a listing of whats “hot” today.

  1. Ducky Tape (Flatline)
  2. Mustache Mania (TNT)
  3. Mystic Gemstone Pouch (SSM)
  4. A&A Finger Boards (A&A)
  5. Adopt a Kitty (Allstar)

5. Adopt a Kitty by Allstar Vending Supply

Adopt a KittyAdopt a kitty is a simple twist on a common vending item- the plastic figurine. These detailed figurines are geared more towards girls, and in order to edge out competing “cute” figurines, they’ve included 2 figurines per capsule. This means you can present your customers with a “value” option, and everyone is looking for value these days. My only detraction is that this hot item has a rather lackluster display, and so it’s stuck at spot #5.

4. Skull and Bones Finger Boards and stickers by A&A Global Industries

Finger BoardsFinger Boards, miniature toy skateboards, remain a very popular toy in retail settings, and A&A has launched a series of their own. Their new “Finger Boards” are bright, colorful, and they have a great looking display card. A&A has mixed in stickers to lower the unit cost, so everyone wins! It’s a great iteration of a product usually reserved for retail stores. With good looking toys like these, I can’t wait to see what A&A has up their sleeve next!

3. Mystic Gemstone Pouches by SSM Vending Inc.

Mystic-Gemstone-PouchThe vending communities have debated several times whether polished rocks could be vended through our machines for a fun novelty product. Clearly we weren’t the only ones dreaming, as SSM has released “Mystic Gemstone Pouches”- a long name for what amounts to shiny rocks in tiny drawstring bags. Anyone familiar with a tourist trap gift store is familiar with these sorts of things. Vended in a 2” capsule, SSM states 21 different rocks and minerals in the assortment. Probably not for regular route stops, but this is a niche product that can do very well in the right setting- and the first of it’s kind to come prepackaged for vendors from a trusted supplier.

2. Mustache Mania by Top Notch Toys (TNT)

Mustache ManiaAbout a year ago, mustaches became a popular Internet meme, and it has invaded the real world. The meme, or viral Internet joke, focuses on unusual applications of mustaches, mustaches in unusual settings, or the “celebration” of mustaches in general. One of the most common instances is the “Finger Mustache” in which a person doodles a mustache onto their finger, and places it to their lip like a mustache. It is unusual to say the least. However, due to the unlicensed nature of facial hair, everyone from novelty companies to T-Shirt companies have been diving into the still-growing trend. Though several suppliers, most notably Vending Supply Inc. and Flatline Corporation, have touched on the trend before, TNT’s mix is the first to focus solely on mustache themed novelties. The mix includes tattoos or mustaches, mustache key-chains, mustache rings, mustache ear-rings, mustache necklaces, and of course a smattering of traditional fuzzy adhesive mustaches to round it out. The meme is always growing and evolving, but it’s unlikely it will lose steam anytime soon.

1. Ducky Tape by Flatline Corp.

Ducky TapeFlatline’s newest “niche” product is an unusual take on a trend that is just starting to really take off nationwide. Known as “Ducktivities”, kids and adults alike are using colored and licensed duct tape of various brands to create all sorts of unusual craft projects, and accessorize existing fashion items. A sampling can be seen at Duck Tape’s website HERE. Flatline’s mix comes in both 1” and 2” varieties, the biggest difference being width and diameter of the tape, though both mixes assure customers that they will receive 30 inches of tape every time. The tape features bright neon colors, and some of the more popular prints, such as colored zebra print, butterflies, peace symbols and more. As a vendible item, it’s flexible, inexpensive, and riding on a fast-growing and popular trend. Coupled with great live displays, and you have a product that has some serious profit potential in the right location. It’s an unusual product, geared to an audience that is notoriously difficult to market as a bulk vendor. It was a gamble by Flatline, but I believe it’s going to pay off for everyone involved.
